Welcome to the Curators of Horror.
SPEAKER_01Hello. Hello. Welcome back to the Curators of Horror. Hi. Um, how are you? It's been a while, hasn't it? Yeah. Well, from our perspective anyway. Yeah, for example. From our mouths to your ears, it's been a while.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, now that we're only uh, you know, uh releasing our episodes every other week, uh it does feel like we've been away from you, listener. So it's it's nice to be back together again.
SPEAKER_01Yeah it is. And I've got a doozy of a film to reveal.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I'm scared now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you should be.
SPEAKER_02I took a really long time choosing mine. And I I do think it's a good film, but um I'm not I'm not super confident.
SPEAKER_01Well, we've been meaning to record this curation for about three weeks.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I've had my film pick for three weeks, and I genuinely think that you only decided on the film that you were gonna pick like this morning.
SPEAKER_02I didn't. It's the same film that I had ready to go three weeks ago, but I was like, maybe I can find something better in the world.
SPEAKER_01You were just being avoidant.
SPEAKER_02I've decided that I I won't find something better and that I I should just go with my with my instinct.
SPEAKER_01Your instinct?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01Doesn't sound like you.
SPEAKER_02No. Well how you feeling now that the uh the old scores are are tied up nine apiece.
SPEAKER_01I'm not here because I care about the scores.
SPEAKER_02That's the first time you've ever said that.
SPEAKER_01I'm here because you make me. I'm here under duress. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I just want to eat the cheesecake that I made for you.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I want to eat the cheesecake as well.
SPEAKER_01Do you?
SPEAKER_02I do. But uh it is it is exciting that that we are that the scores are tied up, I think. If you if you compare with our our first season, I was in the lead at the beginning and then you took the lead, and then I'm gonna be able to do that. And then you just stayed in the lead for the rest of it. And you know, this season I was in the lead and then it tied up, and then you were in the lead, and now it's tied up again. So it just I don't know, it feels like it feels a little bit more even this season and I'm happy about that.
SPEAKER_01Even season.
SPEAKER_02Even season. Yeah. That sounds wrong, but it's not.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, I mean I'm not quite sure what possessed me to pick the film that I've picked this week.
SPEAKER_02Is that a clue? No. Okay.
SPEAKER_01It's uh yeah. Oh well, we'll see. We'll see what happens.
SPEAKER_02Do we want to just get straight to it?
SPEAKER_01I think we should.
SPEAKER_02Okay, fair enough. Yeah. Alright, nice. Uh, but first, let's hear from voiceover man Adam Diggle to introduce our next victim.
SPEAKER_00Our next victim is you our B movie fan Christian. Christian started early but believes he was introduced to horror too young, at the ripe old age of just seven. This hasn't discouraged him at all. In fact, Christian loves to check out all the latest terrors at the cinema, and at home insists that all the lights are off when watching. SPEAKER_02Right, I cannot for the life of me, because it's been so long, remember whose turn it is to go first. So uh bear with me a moment while I uh travel back in time and remember.
SPEAKER_01This is wonderful for an audio medium, isn't it?
SPEAKER_02Yes, you'd think we'd have prepared this in advance, but we didn't.
SPEAKER_01Well, I did. I've got everything that I need. But some people aren't as um you know what's the word? Good to the audience. Couldn't think of a better word than good. It's clearly a sign of things to come.
SPEAKER_02Um okay, hang on. I'm finding the podcast on Apple Podcasts. Considerate.
SPEAKER_01That's the word I was trying to think of.
SPEAKER_02Going back to the last one we've got. Considerate, just in case you were wondering. It's my time to go first. It's your time. My time. That was time and turn combined. My time.
SPEAKER_01Our dog is completely fed up of our bullshit. And he won't stay in the same room as us when we're podcasting.
SPEAKER_02He usually sits quietly, but not today.
SPEAKER_01No, he's like, fuck you guys. You haven't done this for ages.
SPEAKER_02I'm going in the living room.
SPEAKER_01I'm going away from you.
SPEAKER_02You stay in that dining room where all your weird stuff only comes out sometimes.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna sleep and snore and I'm gonna be comfortable. So yeah. Yeah. I mean, good for him. Yeah. Good for him. He's now climbing on the back of the sofa to make himself a little bed. Oh, baby. Good boy. Yugo boy. Oh yugo boy.
SPEAKER_02Alright, um, do you want me to uh to reveal my curation?
SPEAKER_01If you must, that's kind of why we're gonna do it.
SPEAKER_02That's what we're here to do, yeah. I kinda I kinda must, I think. Yep. So I think that you will be not like unhappy with this pick, but you'll be like, oh okay, alright, yeah, well, fine. Okay. Don't think you're gonna be thrilled about it. Okay. I'm excited to watch this film again because it's it's an important film to us as a couple, in a way.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so it's a film that I know already which film it is then. Yeah? Yes.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01If I'm not right, but yeah, I think I'll be right back.
SPEAKER_02You have to tell me if you're right or not. So I have chosen to go for 2009's Drag Me to Hell.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You did guess it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I knew. I knew exactly what you're talking about. How did you guess it?
SPEAKER_02I didn't even say that much.
SPEAKER_01Because he said it's an important film for us. Yeah. And in terms of horror films that we've watched that have been important, this is basically the one. Yeah. Because this is the first horror film that we ever watched together. Yeah. And it's one of the first ever horror films that I really ever watched.
SPEAKER_02Wow. Yeah. Okay. How are you feeling about watching it again?
SPEAKER_01Not bothered, watched it recently.
SPEAKER_02Oh, really? Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Damn it. Totally not bothered by anything in this film anymore because I've already done the rewatch of the things that freaked me out, and I was just like, ah, it's just Campa's Christmas, isn't it? So yeah, things in mouths. That's the thing I always say about drag me to hell. A lot of things in a lot of mouths. And but yeah.
SPEAKER_02I'm very, very excited to watch this film again because it's been quite a long time for me. Uh, and it's my second uh episode in a row choosing a Justin Long film.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're just all up in Justin Long's business at the moment. I really am, I really am.
SPEAKER_02I mean, we spend enough of our time watching uh Walking with Dinosaurs a movie with our daughter at the moment, and Justin Long voice is one of the dinosaurs. So he's just in my life a lot at the moment.
SPEAKER_01He's just worked his way into your uh subconscious. Yes, he's in my psyche. You're now just gonna pick Justin Long films. Well, I see how you got there. Yeah. I've taken a slightly different route.
SPEAKER_02I can't wait to hear about it.
SPEAKER_01And you were talking about maybe me not being particularly thrilled about watching that film. Good god, wait till you hear the film I've picked. Oh god. Oh goodness me.
SPEAKER_02Well, the last time you said that it was Eyes Without a Face, and I was really nervous about watching it and I loved it. Yeah, it was beautiful.
SPEAKER_01That was a classy, beautiful film. I have not picked a classy, beautiful film this time.
SPEAKER_02I'm kind of happy about that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know how happy you're gonna be.
SPEAKER_02Alright, well, let's find out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Am I just gonna jump straight in?
SPEAKER_02Do it. Rip the band-aid off. Put it in your mouth.
SPEAKER_01You mean the plaster?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We don't do band-aids here.
SPEAKER_02Alright.
SPEAKER_01We literally don't have band-aids. We have a laster plast.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we don't have the brand, do we? No. What are they called if you don't brand them? Because plaster is a brand as well.
SPEAKER_01They're just called plasters.
SPEAKER_02No, but that's a brand as well, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01No, I don't think so. Sticky plasters.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Sticking plasters.
SPEAKER_01Sticking. Sticky?
SPEAKER_02I think it's sticking.
SPEAKER_01I mean they're both sticky and sticky.
SPEAKER_02We all know what we're talking about anyway.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, plasters. Yeah. Not like plaster of Paris or plaster that you put on the wall.
SPEAKER_02The ones that you when you have a boo-boo. Sticky plaster. You put it on there.
SPEAKER_01You put it underneath. Yeah. Yes, elastoplast. Yeah. Anyway.
SPEAKER_02Go on.
SPEAKER_01I was like, what is going on?
SPEAKER_02No, it's riffing on plasters.
SPEAKER_01Oh, lovely. Well, I've decided to go for the 2019 lesser known film Terrifier.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you know what?
SPEAKER_02I'm I'm quite happy to watch it because I know you've seen it and you've told me about it and you've talked about it so many times. And I feel like it'll be good to have a reason to watch it and know what you're actually talking about and see if it's actually as bad as you say it is.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it's probably worse. There's things in that film that I haven't told you. Okay. There's things in that film because it will be a surprise.
SPEAKER_02It's a a morbid, morbid surprise.
SPEAKER_01Yay. So yeah, um it's gonna be fun. Um you might need to have something jolly lined up for afterwards just because it's a bit of a it's a bit of a it takes you on a journey, shall we say. But yeah, I'm I'm intrigued actually to see what you think because this is kind of delving deep into the type of films that I watch when you're not around because I know that you wouldn't want to watch them when we were together.
SPEAKER_02I feel like you're doing me a disservice by saying that.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean it's not a disservice, it's actually me speaking highly of you because this film is not up to your usual usual calibre.
SPEAKER_02It's a disservice in terms of horror, because it's like a lot of the things that you say, Oh, I've watched this and you won't like this, I've really liked it. What was that one? What was the what was the one about the the where it was on a all on a webcam that we watched?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02That was good. Yeah. And you said you didn't think I was gonna like that one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well that's just your found footage thing. You're not a big fan of the found footage. But that was a good film. But you know, this is it's not found footage.
SPEAKER_02Well then that's a good pair. That's for sure.
SPEAKER_01It's uh yeah, well we'll see. We'll see, won't we?
SPEAKER_02Nice. Well, I think it's uh I think it's an interesting pairing. Should we tell our lovely listeners where they can watch these moves? Yes, let's. Alright, well, listeners, you've got two whole weeks now to watch this movie, or these movies I should say, but if you want to watch the movie that I've picked and you are in the United States, Drag Me to Hell is currently streaming on Peacock and Peacock Premium, which I'm guessing is like the same thing, but without the ads, yeah. And you can also rent it and buy it from Apple, Amazon, YouTube, Voodoo, Redbox, DirecTV, and AMC Theatres on demand. You lucky people. And if you are in the United Kingdom and you want to be dragged to hell, then Drag Me to Hell is currently streaming on Netflix, which is always nice, because most people have Netflix, so you can watch this one, you probably already pay for that, so it's like effectively like it's free. Except you are paying for it really, I guess. Or if you don't have Netflix and you're like, I don't believe in streaming services, I just buy and rent things, and you're one of those people, then you can buy and rent Drag Me to Hell in the UK on Amazon, Apple, Chili, YouTube, Sky Store, and Rakuten TV.
SPEAKER_01Nice. Well, this is actually a little interesting because usually the films that I pick aren't like streaming anywhere, and this is actually available in quite a few different places, dear listeners. Oh, that's nice. I mean, I would put a massive, massive, massive red flag warning on this film because I know that it's not going to be to the taste of a lot of people. Proceed with caution is what I would say. Maybe do a little bit of research before you watch this film. If you are, you know, a little bit put off by um very, very graphic violence and such. Um it's not a nice film, it's not a happy, happy film. But if you are so inclined to watch it, um currently, if you are in the United States of America, it is available to stream on the Roku channel. Do we think that's Roku or Roku? That's Roku. Roku channel. The Roku channel, it's also available to stream on Voodoo and Tubi. But it's available to rent and buy on YouTube, Voodoo, and Apple TV. So you have you have your options there. If you are in the United Kingdom, it is currently streaming on Shudder. I'm not surprised. Shudder is the right home for this particular film, but again, it is available to rent and buy on um Apple Rakuten TV. I never pronounce that right. I just don't know what that is.
SPEAKER_02I live in the UK, I've never heard of it before, except when we look on this one place we go to to find all this information for you.
SPEAKER_01Chili, YouTube, and Sky. So it is, like I said, available in more places than my usual fare. So um indulge, but like I said, please proceed with caution.
SPEAKER_02We don't talk about it too much on the podcast, but I got a really lovely message from one of our listeners uh recommending a horror film for us to watch.
SPEAKER_01Oh really?
SPEAKER_02It's called Killer Sofa. And it is about a possessed recliner chair.
SPEAKER_01Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_02And it sounds like they said it is they said it's it's a bad film. They said it's not funny bad, they said it's bad, and then it becomes funny, and then it circles back round to bad and ends just being not not very good. But I'm quite tempted to watch it.
SPEAKER_01It sounds like the type of film I would enjoy. I enjoy a bad film. If anything, I just like having a good discussion about a bad film. I think it's better to discuss a bad film than it is to discuss a good film mostly.
SPEAKER_02Who wants to just listen to people saying they live?
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, this was so good. I don't like it so much.

I'm gonna get to re-watch a film I haven't seen for a long time that I love and that, like we've said, is an important horror milestone in our relationship, in the sense that it's the first horror film we ever saw together back when we first started dating. And I'm gonna get to see a new and allegedly very horrific horror film that you've seen before, but I haven't, so I'm quite excited about that.
