SPEAKER_01Yeah. I don't know what's wrong with me. I think I'm making up for the fact that again I am tired. But that's okay, because I'm happy to be here.
SPEAKER_02Oh, me too.
SPEAKER_01I don't know why I picked the film that I've picked at this moment.
SPEAKER_02I genuinely can't wait to hear what one you've picked for this because I know that you have lost sleep over this. I literally just couldn't pick.
SPEAKER_01There were about I I kid you not, I've gone thround and round about six different options. And I picked the one that I have picked first, and then I went, no. And then six films later.
SPEAKER_02You came back round.
SPEAKER_01Came back round and went, well, I guess. But I think my tool is still wonky.
SPEAKER_02Well, I found this selection incredibly easy. I just thought of a film and I was like, yep. I didn't I don't even have a backup, so I really hope you haven't picked the same thing.
SPEAKER_01I mean we haven't because you've never seen this one.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay, good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But um that's hilarious because that's usually my way of doing things, not yours.
SPEAKER_02I feel like I've stolen your mojo.
SPEAKER_01My mojo.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I've stolen my mojo.
SPEAKER_01My mojo, baby.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I've got your mojo, baby.

SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_02Which Austin Powers film is that from? Is it the first one? Is it the first one? I'm pretty sure it's the first one. Where he loses his mojo.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because they drill into him when he's frozen and they steal his mojo.
SPEAKER_02But he's frozen in like every one of those films.
SPEAKER_01He's not frozen in the third one.
SPEAKER_02No, could be the second one though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, maybe they steal his mojo in the second film.
SPEAKER_02What happened to Mike Myers? I've not seen him do any films for quite a few years.
SPEAKER_01But Mike Myers is just in a nice house somewhere with his family living his best life after having made a shit ton of money from Austin Powers.
SPEAKER_02And all the Shrek movies.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I really like thinking about actors that are just not in anything anymore, just kind of enjoying life a bit more. I think about Jack Black like that as well as it's like.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say that's a lot of actors right now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And it's not such a happy thought.
SPEAKER_01I think about Jack Black doing that, although he does do some films, not as much as he used to. I think about him just kicking back and enjoying life. Yeah. And um anyone else?
SPEAKER_02Um no, apparently not. No, just those two.
SPEAKER_01Um What was his name? The guy that I used to say you look like Michael McIntyre. He's not an actor, he's a comedian. But I think of him kicking back and enjoying his life with his kids and his wife because he's made all that money being funny. Yeah. Why not take a break?
SPEAKER_02I like to think about the the Chagmared annoyed people doing that. Oh, we haven't had a song on a curation for a while.
SPEAKER_01This is the South Park version.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say, I don't know if we can call it a song.
SPEAKER_01I'm very good at South Park. I should be I should be a character on South Park, I feel. Because I could just do it like this.
SPEAKER_02Well I was gonna say we wouldn't even have to leave the house. Yeah. We've got all the recording equipment. Trey Parker, Matt Stone, if you're listening.
SPEAKER_01Katie is ready for you. I told you it's delirium at this point. Yeah. And I'm also probably just trying to make up for the fact that I'm really not sure about the film I get. Oh dear. But I think it'll be it'll be a fun thing to talk about. It's different. We haven't had anything like this on the podcast before. No. Tell you that. Tell you that right now.
SPEAKER_02I always feel obliged to talk a little bit about the other things that we're watching in our lives at this point.
SPEAKER_01What are we watching?
SPEAKER_02And uh nothing. Well, I was gonna say, like, uh, we have a child. We do. She's two.
SPEAKER_01She's awesome.
SPEAKER_02She's awesome.
SPEAKER_01She's genuinely, I know I'm biased because I like grew her, yeah, birthed her into the world.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01She's awesome.
SPEAKER_02She's so awesome. She's so awesome. She got new shoes today, and she just like loved that so much. It was great. Yeah. I mean I I recently met excited about shoes. I recently met up with another parent of a child, and I asked him, what do you watch on the TV with your child? And he said On the TV box. And he listed a few things that were all things that I've never watched that are like new, current things that children actually watch. And it made me realise that all we really uh show our daughter is stuff that we watched when we were children.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. 100% nostalgia viewing.
SPEAKER_02Like at the moment, she's fully obsessed with the 90s Thumbelina movie, which we've watched about a hundred times.
SPEAKER_01Or as she used to call it when she was was younger, Funny Ina. Yeah. Which is just everything. Yeah. Yeah, that was one of my favourite movies as a kid. It's very problematic watching it as an adult, I'm just saying. She's 16 and she wants to get married to someone that she's met once, had a little fly on a bumblebee with, and had not even had a kiss.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_01And they're getting married. Like, what is wrong with you?
SPEAKER_02I mean, she's also born wearing clothes out of a poppy that grows from uh what is it?
SPEAKER_01A barley corn.
SPEAKER_02Barleycorn. So that doesn't make sense.
SPEAKER_01And chickens in this thing are born with hats on. Out of the egg with a hat on. It's just it makes no sense.
SPEAKER_02No. But we love it.
SPEAKER_01It's great. Yeah, and she loves it. Music's fantastic by Barry Manilo. Yeah. You know? Yeah. Can't really go wrong.
SPEAKER_02Check out that soundtrack if you do nothing else today. Yeah, if you if you're enjoying a bit of a picture of old movies, children's music.

SPEAKER_02But enough of this dallying. Let's get to our curations because I want to hear about what movies you've chosen. But before we do that, we have to hand over to voiceover man Adam Diggle to hear more about our next victim.
SPEAKER_00Our next victim is the horror amateur Sarah. Sarah loves to be scared, and when selecting a horror movie, wants for nothing but to be left psychologically uneasy for days after watching. When asked is there anything further she'd like to share, Sarah simply declared, Surprise me. Will Sarah be astonished by our next curations, or will she live to regret it? SPEAKER_01Isn't he lovely? Yes. Yes, he is. Yes, he is. Absolutely divine.
SPEAKER_02So it was your turn to go first last time. Uh so it'll be my turn to go first this time. Woo-hoo. And I think that you will be in equal parts happy and annoyed at me for the film I'm about to choose.
SPEAKER_01If you pick the film, I think you're gonna pick. We'll see. Yeah. I've just I've just had like a Premonition? Premonition of the movie. It's hit me like a thunderbolt. Yeah. Come on then. Alright. Oh god. Is it really bad? Have you gone for something really bad? Like really, really bad.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I'll let you be the judge of that. Oh god. As I take it back to 2014's tusks.
SPEAKER_01I knew you were gonna say that! Oh, for God's sake! Oh, I can't believe I've already watched this film like five times.
SPEAKER_00I can't wait to watch it.
SPEAKER_01I can't believe I have to watch it again. Oh, I love this film. Oh, it makes me want to vomit. In a good way. Yeah. But it really good vomit. A good vomit. Like a good good old clean out of the old pipes.
SPEAKER_02But oh my uh I feel like I've been sitting on this film to choose it for so long, and I was like, I will wait no longer. I don't want to risk you picking it before me. So I've got to be a good one.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I would just like to say that you've seen it because I've seen it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I know. You introduced me to it, and it's bloody fantastic. I love it to pieces.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I watched it without Emriss because this is the type of this is dear listener, I've talked about the fact that I have a particular taste in absolutely god-awful rotten horror movies, like rotten to the very core. And this is kind of up there as one of the monarchs of the rotten to the core horror films that Emiris would never have watched.
SPEAKER_02Nope.
SPEAKER_01Because he's one of those people that's like, I need to have intelligent things come into my eyeballs because I'm so smart. Good impression of me. And I am not.
SPEAKER_02Nope. So I'm I'm quite and I'm grateful for that because otherwise I never would have experienced that into my eyes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I into your mind in your brain and it lives there forever. It does. You know, when they say what what what video lives in your head rent-free? Yeah. This whole film just lives in my head rent-free forever. Um, but I don't think I would have ever picked this for someone because it's just so out there. And I I yeah, I'm I can totally get why you've done that. Um we'll just have to wait and see what our lovely victim, definitely a victim this time, is gonna say. Jesus. I hope that they haven't found out anything about this film before they watch it.
SPEAKER_02Oh well. Uh we'll be making sure that they don't.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Oh my god. I'm pretty sure that they're not gonna know anything about my film either.
SPEAKER_02Well, I want to hear what it is, so tell me what it is.
SPEAKER_01Well, like I said, I went back and forth with a couple of different films. I definitely um like borderline went in the direction that you've gone in, but I literally just kind of went, no, I can't do it. And I think it probably says more about me that I just can't go to that place right now because of how life is. But I decided to take it back. Oh yes.
SPEAKER_02How far back?
SPEAKER_01Taking it back, not just a little back, a beak back to 1960.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow.
SPEAKER_01Two the French horror classic Les yeux sans visage, also known as in popular culture, i.e. in English, Eyes Without a Face.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02Oh god. Yes. Alright, this is one of those films that's been on my list of like I really don't want to watch it because I think it will scare me and freak me out too much for quite some time.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's black and white.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's subtitles. It's everything that Emris hates in a film, which is why I picked it. No. Um but in terms of the story, it's is very intense, and I think it's actually made more intense by the fact that it's been filmed in this way, and it isn't gratuitous violence, it is 100% psychological 60s. I'm gonna fuck your shit up type horror. So it's gonna be an interesting week watching both these films. Yeah, and um, yeah, I mean, I totally see how we both got to this place, but these films are so different that I think this is gonna be pretty interesting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they are very different. I mean, I haven't seen your film, but I know a bit about it, obviously.
SPEAKER_01Emiris has definitely gone green around the gills. I'm glad that I could do that for you, considering that I just did that when you said that we were gonna watch Tusk again.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I feel like our reactions were different.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're really upset that you have to watch this.
SPEAKER_02I mean, you know what? It's good, it's good. I like being scared. If it scares me, then mission accomplished.
SPEAKER_01It's gonna freak you out. Might not scare you in the way that, you know, oh, scary film. It's it's gonna get in your brain though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, Emris is actually freaking out about the fan that he's gonna have to watch this film.
SPEAKER_02I'm genuinely not. I'm just thinking about it. I'm so excited to watch Tusk again. Like, I can't wait to watch that movie again.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, you just need to promise me one thing here on air with all of the listeners to hold you accountable. Yeah. You are not allowed to fall asleep in my film.
SPEAKER_02I won't, I won't, don't worry. You are not allowed to. If I'm too tired when it comes to us starting to watch it, I'm just gonna say let's watch it another night.
SPEAKER_01Because if you fell asleep in the company of wolves, you got no like hope of staying awake during a black and white film with subtitles. I know you. I'm gonna have to confiscate your phone anyway so that you'll actually read the subtitles instead of just looking at your phone.
SPEAKER_02But I need to make my notes.
SPEAKER_01You can get a pen and a paper and do it the old fashioned way. No, it's the 1960s, motherfucker.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, fair enough. Okay.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, no phone for you and no falling asleep.
SPEAKER_02Okay, deal. Yeah. Deal.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and I will promise to try and not vomit during Tusk. Okay. Because it really make me queasy.

Um, but if you are in America, in the United States of America, you can currently um stream it on HBO Max or the Criterion Channel, which is pretty fancy. Classics. Um, and you can also rent it or buy it on Apple or Amazon. So you can watch it slightly more if you're in America and um dust off those old DVD players' friends in the UK and get one, you know, get it for a couple of quid off Amazon Marketplace and then sell it again for like 50p. So you'll make a loss, but it'll be a good one. Yeah, make artwork out of it. Um use it as a frizz page.
SPEAKER_02Comical and trivial to have like loads of discs on your wall.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, or use it for modern art or an earring.
SPEAKER_02Ooh, yeah. Or a nipple ring. Big earrings.
