Welcome to the Curators of Horror.
SPEAKER_05Good evening. Is this available? Yes, it is. Please leave me alone. We are sleeping. No more contacting, please. Thanks. I would appreciate contacting me. I know I'm no longer interested. Please stop contacting me now. I will contact the tonight, General, if you do not stop.
SPEAKER_01Well, you got a whole song for this curation, listeners.
SPEAKER_03That's just a mood, I feel.
SPEAKER_01You're getting a whole lot of a whole lot of life in your for your free podcast there.
SPEAKER_03Yup.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that was a big yawn. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's been a long day. Some of us were working all day.
SPEAKER_01Yep. I was. I was looking after Posey. What were you doing?
SPEAKER_03I was working and getting paid for it. Oh, fair enough. So I am feeling a touch weary.
SPEAKER_01Oh. But um even though as we record this, you are currently in the lead.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Because I don't do it for the numbers, baby.
SPEAKER_01Do you do it for the love?
SPEAKER_03I do it just to fuck with you. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Well, it wouldn't be for the love anyway, would it? It would be for like the the horrors. Horror.
SPEAKER_02The terror of the horror. That's the way I do it. Why do you do it?
SPEAKER_01Uh I like spending time with you.
SPEAKER_02It like gives my life meaning and purpose.
SPEAKER_01It gives my life things to fill it with.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, because we don't have enough stuff to fill our lives with as is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I feel like if I didn't have this, then I would just be like, just a little bit, not enough to do, whereas this just takes me comfortably over having too much to do. That's you. I still can't believe in a big dress. Kuo Joe beat Doctor Sleep.
SPEAKER_06Never enough.
SPEAKER_01Me in a big dress in a bat. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_03I see it.
SPEAKER_01Alright.
SPEAKER_03You see it, don't you, listener? In your mind's eye.
SPEAKER_01When it's beautiful. When Katie and I f were at an earlier point in what has now been a very long relationship together, she used to say a very long relationship.
SPEAKER_03That sounded very laboured.
SPEAKER_01Um she used to say that I reminded her of the British stand-up comedian Michael McIntyre.
SPEAKER_03You still remind me of Michael McIntyre. Yeah. It's not something that's gone away. I love how you're talking about it in the past tense, like it's not a thing anymore. And that's the thing. One time Emiris actually saw Michael McIntyre perform and suddenly went, Oh yeah. No, it was when you saw your wedding speech and you went, Oh my god. Yeah. Because it was the first time that you'd not been like seeing yourself perform as someone else, but you've been seeing yourself perform as you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And you suddenly went, Oh crap, I am like Michael McIntyre.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Michael McIngagger.
SPEAKER_01I don't know what's happened to him. I feel like I haven't seen him do anything for some time.
SPEAKER_03I mean, he did a lot for a long time. Yeah, he's not a good one. If it was me, I'd be just be living off that sweet, sweet money.
SPEAKER_01That's what I was gonna say. You know, just not doing anything. Yeah. Just whatever you want to do because you got so much money and security and lovely family, and just just do that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I mean, if you can make a shit ton of money doing something out of like stand-up comedy and literally make bank doing something as difficult as that. I'm like, good on you, Michael McIntyre.
SPEAKER_01I completely agree.
SPEAKER_03You you do you, babe. You do you. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well.
SPEAKER_03This has been a very tangenty tangent, hasn't it?
SPEAKER_01We're very good at that. I kind of feel like that's what some people come for. Like they just stay for the tangent, and then when we start talking about horror movies, they'll I'm done.
SPEAKER_02Oh well.
SPEAKER_01Again, we haven't watched a lot of uh, you know, extracurricular horror recently. We were both mildly underwhelmed by Marvel's latest offering of and uh Winter Soldier.
SPEAKER_03And that's probably because we love Wondervision so much.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm a bit obsessed with it. Yeah. I keep playing the the the 70s theme tune from episode three just every day because it just makes me so happy.
SPEAKER_04That one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04We got something cooking and it's looking good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I like that.
SPEAKER_03It's great. Love it. I think we've spent enough airtime talking about Wondervision, though. There is gonna come a time where we need to let it go. Let it go. Let it go.
SPEAKER_01That music's by the same people that did Wondervision. Wonder Vision.
SPEAKER_03I mean, do you think we're gonna get copyrighted for all of these different songs?
SPEAKER_01I I do think that, you know, uh, you know, all of those very high-powered Hollywood types, they do listen to the podcast, so I think it's likely that that will happen. Yeah. Damn it.
SPEAKER_03Dimmit.
SPEAKER_01Shall we get to to business?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Let's get down to business.
SPEAKER_01See if we can get some more Disney songs into this curious episode. Now let's go over to our voiceover guy, Adam Diggle, to hear more about our next victim.
SPEAKER_00Our next victim is horror movie, Sophia! The closest Sophia has come to watching horror was when she accidentally glimpsed a zombie in The Walking Dead. Sophia may be the boss when it comes to video games, but has vowed to never watch a horror movie until today. Can Sophia rise to the challenge and level up, or will it be game over for our curators? Find out on the next episode of Curators of Horror.
SPEAKER_01It's my turn to go first this time.
SPEAKER_03Because I went first last time.
SPEAKER_01That's right, so I'm getting the nerves. You don't like when I go first, do you? See, and I prefer when you go first. So I think maybe we should just, you know, get rid of this swapping back and forth thing, and you just always go first, because then you're not gonna feel nervous, and then I'm always gonna get to see what you've picked before I reveal what I picked.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but then surely all the drama and all of the you know, the butterflies will leave our relationship and eventually we we will divorce. I thought and the podcast will be no more.
SPEAKER_01I thought you were gonna say that all of the the the drama and the excitement will be gone from the podcast, but you went from four from our relationship. From our marriage, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well This is the only drama.
SPEAKER_01Some again, like some people come for the tangent and then switch off when the horror starts. Some people just come to hear us reveal the movies so they can be like, oh, and then they go.
SPEAKER_03And then some people come to hear our marriage slowly dissolve.
SPEAKER_01Alright, well, our next victim, Sophia. I have chosen a movie that I have not watched for quite some time, but I have seen so many times. Oh like I don't even know how many times I've seen this film. Uh I have gone for 1990s Gremlins 2, the new batch.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Yeah, I see what you've done there. Yeah. Bit of a cop out, I think, personally.
SPEAKER_01I love this film.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I love this film too.
SPEAKER_01I love this film.
SPEAKER_03I really do love this film. It's a great film, but I just cop-out. Just saying.
SPEAKER_01Well, we'll have to see, won't we?
SPEAKER_03Mine's not a cop-out.
SPEAKER_01No. I mean, I wasn't expecting that it would be, but uh I have tried to meet the needs of our next victim, and I'm very happy with my choice.
SPEAKER_03I feel like I'm just getting a bit bored of meeting the needs of our victims.
SPEAKER_01You're just getting a bit bored? Just now? Never, never before now?
SPEAKER_03Never before have I given people films that scar them for life.
SPEAKER_01Alright, well, over to you then.
SPEAKER_03Well, I've gone with something that we have both seen before.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_03But we haven't seen it more than once.
SPEAKER_01Okay, that's good. I like that.
SPEAKER_03So it's like it's it's about time we have a refresher on this particular film.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I have picked that 2019 classic.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Ready or not?
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's a good choice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I thought so.
SPEAKER_01I actually had that one on my short list.
SPEAKER_03Oh, did you? Yeah. Uh great minds. I picked it though, so You did?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Uh and I do think it's a good choice. I think it's uh it's l on the lighter side, but still very much uh a f a proper full horror movie.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think so. I'm looking forward to watching this one again, actually.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, me too.
SPEAKER_03Because I can't really remember I remember it.
SPEAKER_01But I feel like I remember the trailer rather than the actual film. Yeah. Do you know what I mean by that?
SPEAKER_03And the actress, the lead actress in this film is is very good. I'm looking forward to watching her and something again.
SPEAKER_01She's awesome, agreed. Uh well, shall we tell our lovely listeners where they can watch these films?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, listeners, if you haven't seen this film, where the hell you been? If you want to watch Gremlins 2, The New Batch, uh and you are in the United Kingdom, you can stream it on Sky Go and Now TV. And you can buy it and rent it from Amazon, Apple, YouTube, and a bunch of other places. And if you are in the United States of America and you have not yet got HBO Max, well you probably should get it because I feel like every time I'm saying where you can get something, it's always HBO Max. So you can stream Gremlins to the New Batch on HBO Max, or you can rent it or buy it from Apple, Amazon, YouTube, Fandango Now, Voodoo, Redbox, and DirecTV.
SPEAKER_03Samara Weaving.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Hugo Weaving's niece.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I love Hugo Weaving.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's awesome.
SPEAKER_03I always forget his name, but then I I try and be like, you know, Elrond and You just need to weave it. Leave a vendetta.
SPEAKER_01Weave it into your Hugo.
SPEAKER_03And um Mr. Smith.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. He's done a lot of good stuff, hasn't he?
SPEAKER_03Great, great TV.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He's not in that film. He's not in this film. Samara Weaving is, I mean, she's quite spectacular in it. And if you're interested in giving it a little a little cheeky watch, if you are in the UK, you can currently stream it on Skygo and Now TV. Or you can purchase it from Amazon, Chili, SkyStore, YouTube, and Routan TV. If you are, you know, in the mood for Routon TV.
SPEAKER_01By the way, that's pronounced Rakuten.
SPEAKER_03Okay. What would how do you say it was pronounced?
SPEAKER_01Uh Rakuten. Rakuten.
SPEAKER_03Rakuten?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Apparently it's not Routan TV, it's Rakuten TV.
SPEAKER_01R-A-K-U-T-E-N.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I didn't look very closely at the little picture. I can tell. Rakuten. Yeah. I like Routan TV better. I think that's a good thing.
SPEAKER_01Everyone's going, what the fuck is Routan TV?
SPEAKER_03Rakuten TV.
SPEAKER_01Do you want to do that again?
SPEAKER_03No, I like it.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03Anyway, if you're in the United States of America and you want to watch Ready or Not, uh, you can currently stream it on MaxGo, DirecTV, Cinemax, or you can rent it from Redbox, Amazon, or Voodoo, or buy it from Amazon, YouTube, Fandango Now, Voodoo, Redbox, and DirecTV. You've got many options. Definitely watch this film.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think this is quite a nice pairing of uh of movies. Nice little double bill for you, listener. Yeah. Yeah, I absolutely love like the Gremlins films. I've got such a a soft spot for them. And the first one obviously is super classic because it's the first one, but the second one is just absolutely bonkers, and I bloody love it.
SPEAKER_03It'd be interesting to see whether our victim has actually seen the original. Because a lot of what you get from the second draws on what has come in the first.
SPEAKER_01I did think a little bit about that and I decided that they reference all the things that you need to know in it anyway. So I think I actually saw the second one before I saw the first one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't think that it would remove your enjoyment of it because it's like it's it's just a weird little piece of cinema joy. But it will be interesting if that particular person has or has not seen the original. We'll see. We'll see. So much to talk about, so much to discuss, so many good films to watch.
SPEAKER_01Well, listener, I hope that you take the time to watch both of these films and then come back and see us a week from now where we'll be discussing Gremlins 2, the new batch, and ready or not.
SPEAKER_06Ready or not.
SPEAKER_01I was trying to think of a way to make ready or not like part of that, but that was much better. I don't know if you're ready or not, but if you are, you should watch Gremlins do the new batch.
SPEAKER_05Ready or not? Gremlins, gremlins, ready or not?
unknownGremlins do the new batch. Yeah.
