Welcome to the Curators of Horror.
SPEAKER_01Welcome back. Woohoo. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I just felt like an evil laugh. Do you ever just feel like an evil laugh? Sometimes. Yeah, it just came out of me. I just it was the right thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know. Usually at inopportune moments. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But is there really an inopportune moment for an evil laugh?
SPEAKER_02On a horror movie podcast? No.
SPEAKER_01How are you doing this week?
SPEAKER_02I am well. It is a new year and I'm just getting to grips with everything that's happening in the world at the moment.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02How are you doing this week?
SPEAKER_01I'm good. I have Rolly with me. He is on his podcasting puff again, which is really nice. And I hope that he's not going to spend this entire curation licking his paws really loudly because as is his want to do. But but yeah, I'm I'm I'm good. Um I'm interested to see what you've picked this week, actually. Because I've picked a film that I'm now not getting second thoughts over, but I'm kind of like, oh, uh really did I I picked this one? I'm not yeah. I wonder what Emirates has picked. I'm doubting myself a little bit.
SPEAKER_02And you're going first, which is not a strong place to be.
SPEAKER_01I mean, wherever I am is a strong place to be, let's be fair.
SPEAKER_02Fair enough.
SPEAKER_01Um, you know, I am I'm a confident, strong, independent woman, and I know my own worth. So there you go.
SPEAKER_02Do you know what kind of makes me sad?
SPEAKER_01What? That I'm a strong independent woman and I know my own worth?
SPEAKER_02No, that makes me happy.
SPEAKER_01Okay, good.
SPEAKER_02All of the exciting horror films that were meant to come out last year, they're coming out this year now, which is great.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But none of them are coming out for ages still, and I want to see them. Like there's the conjuring three coming out, but not till June. And there is Candyman, but not coming out till August. And then Halloween Kills not coming out till October, but that's kind of appropriate.
SPEAKER_01It gives us something to look forward to. And if 2020 taught us anything, it's that we need things to look forward to that hopefully can't be cancelled.
SPEAKER_02But these are all the things I was looking forward to last year, and they put them really late in the year. I mean, it's probably really smart because you know, who knows? But I just want to see these movies.
SPEAKER_01We were promised so many things last year that all got cancelled. So let's put these as far into the future as possible so that hopefully they can be a shining beacon for us and not just disappear into the ether.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because we all know that that sucks when that happens.
SPEAKER_02And bring on April so I can see A Quiet Place 2 and Last Night in Soho, which are both horror films I want to see that are coming out next.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Let's do it. Enough nattering on, young man of mine. Young man, young man.
SPEAKER_02Of mine? Of mine. I'm not a possession.
SPEAKER_01Yes, you are, and you are mine.

SPEAKER_01There you go. And and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Um I think it's about time that we hear about our next victim. Don't you?
SPEAKER_00Our next victim is adrenaline junkie, Nicole. For Nicole, horror was a real family affair. In her words, I've always found it strangely comforting watching horror movies with my dad. Nicole's biggest fears, spiders. Spiders and lifts. Although she might be counted as a horror connoisseur, it's a T that truly terrifies her to this day. Will our curators be able to match such malevolence? Find out on the next episode of The Curators of Horror.
SPEAKER_01Well.
SPEAKER_02It's another person who likes horror movies.
SPEAKER_01Yay!
SPEAKER_02Yay. Our job is already done. We haven't even spoken to them yet.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's another week of kind of excitement in terms of the film choice. Like I said, I'm I'm doubting myself a little bit. That's because I feel like I was really confident with my other two choices. But I'm still excited about watching this film, and I'm intrigued to know what you've picked because I think it's it's really difficult for me to gauge what you're going to pick when people are just very open to lots of different kinds of films. So it's almost like sometimes we end up picking things that are weirdly similar, and it's like, have we just been drinking something that's been like syncing our brains up because there's like you know, a questionnaire that's hardly got any information in it, and we've both almost picked identical films, and it's really, really bizarre. I mean, obviously, we live together and we do things together all the time, so maybe we just are super in sync, but but I think the fact that we're drinking something that's making that happen is way more likely. Yeah, I think so too. That's why I said it.
SPEAKER_02We need those uh those boozy hot chocolates from last week again.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I can't have another one of those.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I could.
SPEAKER_01My bum won't like me if I have another one of those.
SPEAKER_02Oh dear.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01That's a thing. Anyway.
SPEAKER_02I think it's about time that we reveal the movies that we have curated for our next victim.
SPEAKER_01Was it you now?
SPEAKER_02No, it's you.
SPEAKER_01Is it? Yeah. I feel like it's been me a lot.
SPEAKER_02I went first in the last one, you went first in the first episode.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Alright then. I'll just I'll just do it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, go for it.
SPEAKER_01I'm taking it a little bit back. Not that far back.
SPEAKER_02Moderately back.
SPEAKER_01Moderately back. Let me just think. Longer than we've been together, which feels like quite a long time back.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah, that's back enough.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's that's enough back. Okay, we got back. Just saying. I am going to be giving the curation of the 2005 movie, An American Haunting. Which I don't know if you've seen.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I've seen that.
SPEAKER_01It's which is intriguing to me that you haven't seen it. And um, but yeah, I'm looking forward to it because it's a little bit different. It's on par with the conjuring, I think. It's in a similar area as the the conjuring was last time, but this is like proper historical haunting.
SPEAKER_02So yeah. Well, I like a bit of haunting. It sounds like a bit of a haunted house. Is it a haunted house?
SPEAKER_01Well, is it a haunted house or is it haunted people? Is it you know, I mean people are haunted in a house, right? And Donald Sutherland, it is.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01And Sissy Spacich. So I heard that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but you didn't you didn't react to Sissy Space.
SPEAKER_02I re I reacted to both of them when you'd finished.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I see.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Sissy Spacich is in it.
SPEAKER_02Is she? Yes. Oh, I wasn't aware of that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and Donald Sutherland.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, I knew that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.

SPEAKER_02I don't know who that is.
SPEAKER_01She was in Peter Pan.
SPEAKER_02Which one? The uh like a million of us.
SPEAKER_01The new one.

SPEAKER_01With Jason Isaacs. Oh, that one. Okay, good. Captain Hook.
SPEAKER_02Alright, nice, I like that one. Yeah, me too. Alright, nice, alright. You narrowed it down well though. Yeah. That was good. There are a lot of Peter Pan films. What is that about? I mean, it's a really great story.
SPEAKER_01I think that that one was the first proper live action Peter Pan.
SPEAKER_02No, it wasn't. No bloody.
SPEAKER_01For a really, really, really long time, maybe.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02They make a new one every couple of years. Yeah, but after this.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Yeah. We're not the Peter Pan curators.
SPEAKER_02No, this is not the curators of Pan. Although maybe that's the next podcast we do. There's enough Peter Pan films for us to do that for a while, I think.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that is gonna be our spin-off season.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, which no one will listen to.
SPEAKER_01Curators of Pan.
SPEAKER_02It's got a great title. Punchy.
SPEAKER_01Anyway.
SPEAKER_02Do you want me to tell you what I've chosen?
SPEAKER_01Well, you might as well, seeing as we're both here.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Well, I am taking it back further than you are. Oh. All the way back to 2001.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so not that much further back than I took it back.
SPEAKER_02Well. Oh, you said 2005, didn't you? Yeah, I don't know why. I forgot I forgot what year you said and thought, ah, this is definitely a lot earlier than that. It just feels like a really long time. I mean, this is 20 years ago.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02That's mad.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. Well, I remember the millennium and thinking that all the computers were going to explode and the world was going to end. Yeah. All of the computers couldn't cope with the idea of the dates. Wasn't that what it was? The dates had got to a point where they couldn't go any further without the computers completely melting down. Do you remember the time when that was the type of thing that we worried about?
SPEAKER_02I was about to say, can we please go back to a time where I worried about the date on my products?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like the fact that my computer would be overwhelmed by the fact that that it was going to be the year 2000 as opposed to 19 something and that the world was going to end.
SPEAKER_02Do you want to know the film that I've curated or not?
SPEAKER_01Kind of. Yeah, go on.
SPEAKER_02I have chosen 2001's Valentine.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_02And I I've partially done this because it's slightly timely, but also because I think it's a great choice for this next guest.
SPEAKER_01I think I've seen this film.
SPEAKER_02I think you've seen this film. But maybe once and it was a while ago.
SPEAKER_01It does, yes. Yeah, I think I have seen this. And hasn't it got thingy in it?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yes, it does.
SPEAKER_01David Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
SPEAKER_02Yes, him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I remember.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01This film. I seriously, I don't think I've seen this film since it came out.
SPEAKER_02Twenty years ago. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So that is a long time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Interesting. Interesting.
SPEAKER_02I have I haven't seen it since well, I've seen it since then, but not for many, many years, at least ten, I would say, if not more. Uh and I I'm hopeful that it will hold up well to time.
SPEAKER_01We'll see. Because, you know, films of this ilk in this time could could quite possibly be problematic in quite a few ways.
SPEAKER_02Sure.
SPEAKER_01But we'll see. We'll see, because that's that's the fun. We don't know what to expect.
SPEAKER_02I like to think that this film hopefully will be able to like reclaim it as actually a quite a good film when in at the time it was considered to not not be a bad film, but maybe to just go a bit under the radar.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and that's my plan. It has fully got to the point where it can enter the world of nostalgia now. Yes. Like late nineties, early noughties films do.
SPEAKER_02And nostalgia is my favourite thing ever. So let's let's do that.
SPEAKER_01Ooh, two very different films again. This should be interesting. I think that when we get people that really like horror, there's a lot more probability that we're gonna have two very different films. Yes. But I feel like every single curation we've done so far, we've had completely different films.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there's been less things interesting. Less cohesion in our selections.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, clearly we're not drinking the same thing that we've usually been drinking.
SPEAKER_02Um right, well, shall we tell our lovely listeners where they can watch these films?
